Distribution Center Supervisor
Summary
The Distribution Center Supervisor oversees inventory management and the daily transfer of HVAC freight and materials in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is crucial in procuring, processing, and dispatching products to customers and vendors for our established wholesale HVAC distributorship, which offers a wide range of equipment, parts, and supplies from multiple brands.
Essential Duties/Accountabilities
Load and unload products daily for delivery to customers and other Sales Centers.
Receive, inspect, and stock all merchandise, ensuring accuracy between received items and orders.
Pick and verify orders for customers and inter-office transfers, and prepare orders for shipment as needed.
Conduct daily maintenance checks on trucks and forklifts.
Assist management with inventory counts and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, and report any hazards to the manager.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of assigned aisles or areas within the DC.
As a Lead for Inbound or Outbound operations, assist management in daily distribution center activities.
Operate forklifts and all warehouse equipment, using an RF device to manage product movement in the WMS system with accuracy and speed.
Serve as a role model and mentor to other employees, providing guidance and support to new team members.
Undertake special projects to assist management in completing tasks that require additional expertise.
Utilize all software platforms necessary for daily operations within the distribution center.
Occasionally perform replenishment moves and verify product locations.
Act as an understudy to the manager to gain knowledge and skills for career advancement within Baker Distributing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Regularly required to work in a warehouse or outdoor environment.
May be subjected to various weather conditions.
Frequently works near moving vehicles and equipment.
Requires handling and moving products within a warehouse or distribution center environment.
The work environment typically has moderate to loud noise levels.
Supervisory
This person will supervise Distribution Center employees.
Physical Demands
Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to work at various heights.
Ability to use a hand-held computer device for extended periods.
Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under challenging lighting and access conditions.
Will work in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to significant changes in temperature and humidity.
May use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse tools.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of Warehouse experience including forklift operation. Appliance lift experience is a plus.
Knowledge of common carrier (LTL) and full truckload logistics a plus
Skills
Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, including delivery vehicles and forklifts.
Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate a forklift and all other equipment within the RRC.
Competently use an RF device and any other warehouse devices to direct product movement and ensure accurate item and quantity selection.
Proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding English to ensure compliance with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures.
